Brewer Carlsberg is set to raise its beer prices again. According to the Economic Times, Carlsberg CEO Nilesh Patel confirmed this, stating that the company is aiming to increase beer prices further in 2024. If the price rise takes effect, that would be the second price rise this year.
Earlier, in February, Carlsberg announced that it would raise beer prices by a “high single-digit” percentage to offset rising costs. The company said that the price hike would be necessary to cover the rising costs of energy, raw materials, and transportation.
Carlsberg is not the only brewer that is raising prices. Other brewers, such as Heineken and AB InBev, have also announced price hikes in response to rising costs.
On Tuesday, Danish brewer Carlsberg released its third-quarter sales results, which were broadly in line with expectations. However, the company is concerned that weak consumer sentiment in Europe and Southeast Asia could negatively impact beer markets.
Carlsberg is currently the world”s third-biggest brewer. According to its third-quarter results, sales rose 0.3% to 20.3 billion Danish crowns ($2.89 billion) from 20.2 billion a year earlier, which was slightly below the estimated 20.4 billion in a company poll.
“We delivered solid revenue growth in a challenging environment,” Carlsberg”s new CEO Jacob Aarup-Andersen said in a statement.
“The growth was driven by continued strong revenue per hectoliter improvement and outperformance by our premium portfolio,” he said.
