All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS), New Delhi, launched a free-of-cost smart card to make smooth payments for availing medical services. The ‘One AIIMS, One Card’ initiative under the Ayushman Bharat Digital Mission will resolve the issue of patients from far-flung areas carrying cash with them to the hospital, according officials.

The initiative is considered a significant step for digital India marking a move towards ‘One Nation, One AIIMS, One Card’. The patients can avail multiple services at the hospital and it can be recharged at various points in different blocks at AIIMS, the union Health minister said.

The AIIMS-SBI Smart Payment Card can be availed easily from the facilitation centers in AIIMS, New Delhi. The payment card is linked with the Unique Hospital Identification Number (UHDI) and ABHA ID of the patient.

It is expected that the services of the cards will be extended across all the AIIMS in the country. Smart Cards can be obtained free of cost by all patients and incur no service charges. To get the smart payment card patients and employees must provide their UHID at AIIMS. After providing UHID, an OTP will be sent to their registered mobile numbers, which will be used to activate the card at counters. The card can be used 24*7 to avail services at the AIIMS campus.

It is to be mentioned that the Central Medical College provides various kinds of online services for patient facilitation. Earlier patients had to reach the campus to get appointments and had to stand up in queues even in scorching heat or cold. But now patients can schedule an appointment using their mobile device from any location in the nation. Individuals who possess a Unique Health Identification Number (UHID) would be capable of scheduling appointments by merely logging on and choosing the desired department and physician.
