As per Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB)”s data reported on Monday, Delhi air quality remains “very poor” and stood at 316. Though capital city recently witnessed advancement in air quality to the “poor”, it remained only for a short period, and turned down to “very poor” from Friday.
Notably, Delhi is at the seventh place in the top 10 list of most polluted cities across India. The capital city has been shifting between air quality rating “severe” to “very poor” over the last few weeks. A slight improvement in the condition was marked following a light rain on December 3.
The Air Quality Index (AQI) is a globally accepted standardised system which used to convey the level of air pollution to the public. It categorises air quality into six levels, and they are identified ad Good (0-50), Satisfactory (51-100), Moderately polluted (101-200), Poor (201-300), Very Poor (301-400), and Severe (401-500).
Various locations in Delhi recorded air quality in the “very poor” and “poor” category while no location reported “severe” on Monday. The highest point of air pollution was registered at Nehru Nagar where AQI stood at 378. Dilshad Garden, on the other hand, witnessed lowest point of air pollution, AQI 223 which comes under “poor”range.
Regions in the capital city that has recorded high pollution include Dwarka at 354, Indira Gandhi International Airport at 332, ITO at 328, Jahangirpuri at 329, Patparganj at 322, Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium at 334, Mundka at 366, Najafgarh at 313, Anand Vihar at 311, Wazirpur at 315, and Rohini at 306.
Meanwhile, some of the areas that located low AQI under “poor” category are, Greater Noida AQI stood at 262, Noida at 257, Gurugram at 247, and Ghaziabad at 230.
