India Sends Medical Supply To Africa Amid Ebola Outbreak As Over 900 Cases Reported In Congo
New Delhi: India on May 24 dispatched its first batch of medical supplies to the African Centre for Disease Control and Prevention to tackle with the ongoing Ebola virus outbreak. The World Health Organisation (WHO) recently declared the outbreak a public health emergency of the international concerns.
On Sunday, Congolese authorities said suspected cases have now passed 900 in the east of the country, mainly in Ituri Province, where the ongoing outbreak is centered. Notably, amid the health emergency, the mobs have set fire to at least two health centres as public fury grows over the virus and the rebel attacks in the country, as violence disrupts ongoing treatment efforts.
