Mathura, Uttar Pradesh: Allahabad High Court on Friday dismissed a petition seeking to refer to the site of Shahi Eidgah Mosque of Mathura as a “disputed structure.”

The plea had sought to use the word disputed structure in place of Shahi Idgah Mosque in the entire further proceedings of this original suit in the ongoing Sri Krishna Janmabhoomi–Shahi Idgah case. The demand was also supported by an affidavit from advocate Mahendra Pratap Singh on behalf of the Hindu side, who aimed to have the Shahi Idgah mosque officially designated as a “disputed structure” in the court recordings.

Justice Ram Manohar Narain Mishra rejected the plea while hearing a number of original suits relating to the Krishna Janmabhoomi and Shahi Idgah mosque case.

The order was passed by Justice Ram Manohar Narain Mishra hearing a number of original suits relating to the Krishna Janmabhoomi and Shahi Idgah mosque dispute in Mathura.

The Hindu side had filed 18 suits for possession of land after the removal of the structure of Shahi Idgah masjid as well as for restoration of the temple at the site. Earlier, the court had rejected applications by the Muslim side challenging the maintainability of suits of Hindu worshipers and consolidated all suits.

The Hindu side allege that the Masque was built after demolishing a temple at the birthplace of Lord Krishna.
