New Delhi: In a major organisational reset designed to reshape its top core team, Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) President Nitin Nabin announced a sweeping leadership rejig on Monday. The strategic overhaul marks the return of several high-profile heavyweights to key party roles, alongside significant leadership changes across critical operational wings, coming directly ahead of an expected cabinet reshuffle.

Ex-Union Minister Smriti Irani made a powerful comeback to the top party structure. Appointed as a National General Secretary in Nitin Nabin’s new organizational lineup, Irani returns to a core role within the central office-bearers. Her induction highlights the leadership’s focus on deploying experienced communicators and battle-tested leaders to drive organizational strategy and grassroots connection across key regions.

Joining her in the leadership comeback is veteran strategist and former National General Secretary Ram Madhav. Madhav has been named on the central list of 13 National Vice Presidents, signalling a renewed reliance on experienced party strategists to manage organisational expansion and geopolitical narratives.

Among the most notable changes in the organizational machinery is the exit of long-time IT Cell chief Amit Malviya. In an important reshuffle, Malviya was dropped from the post he held for years. He will be replaced by Deepak Mhaskey from Chhattisgarh, who assumes charge of leading the party’s digital and technological campaigns. Meanwhile, senior leader Anil Baluni retains his position as the central Media-in-Charge, ensuring continuity in the party’s press affairs.

In another high-level shift, Union Commerce Minister Piyush Goyal has been appointed as the party’s National Treasurer, replacing outgoing treasurer Rajesh Agarwal. The assignment places one of the government’s key economic faces directly in charge of the party’s central financial administration.

The notification released by the BJP president outlines a structured distribution of roles across the party hierarchy, appointing:

* 13 National Vice Presidents
* 10 National General Secretaries
* 16 National Secretaries

Women leaders feature prominently in the newly constructed team. Out of the 13 National Vice Presidents, six are women. Among them are former Rajasthan Chief Minister Vasundhara Raje Scindia, who has been retained in the top vice-presidential panel, and Rekha Verma.
