An anti-terrorist operation is currently underway in Pulwama district of the Indian union territory of Jammu and Kashmir. Pulwama is located approximately 25 kilometres south of the summer capital of the state, Srinagar.
“The operation was launched last evening in the Parigam village area”, NDTV quoted the Police at Pulwama.
A gunfight was erupted between the security forces and the militants, late on Sunday. Following the encounter, an army jawan was also injured.
According to Times of India, two or three terrorist were trapped in Pulwama, and a joint team of the Army, Jammu and Kashmir Police, and CRPF launched a codon-and-search operation on Sunday.
The operation was earlier suspended in the night considering chances of collateral damages to the civilians. And thus it resumed on Monday morning.
The number of terrorist who are hiding in the cordon area is still unclear, but the forces are searching.
