Riniki Bhuyan Sarma, wife of Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma filed a lawsuit against Congress MP Gaurav Gogoi. Ms. Sarma filed a defamation case against Mr. Gogoi for his allegations against the former regarding the irregularities in a food processing project.
Taking to X (formerly twitter), the Congress MP asked whether the Central Government Schemes are meant to enrich BJP. He said, “PM Modi launched the Kisan Sampada scheme to double income of farmers of India. But in Assam, Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma used his influence to help his wife”s firm get Rs crore as part of credit linked subsidy. Are Central government schemes meant to enrich BJP?”. He also shared picture of Ministry Of Food Processing Website by rounding Ms. Sarma”s firm.

To this, the Assam CM “clarified” that neither his wife or the firm received any “financial subsidies from the Government of India”.

To this, Mr. Gogoi replied that the Food Processing website clearly shows the company name and person associated with it. He further asked the Assam CM to report to the Union Minister if their website has been hacked.

Mrs. Sarma responded to Mr. Gogoi by stating the allegations to be an “attack and malign a 17 year old Assamese enterprise. She said, ” this is nothing but an attack to malign and defame an 17 year old Assamese enterprise which has adhered to every aspect of the law, headed by a woman entrepreneur”.

In the statement Mrs. Sarma also mentioned about filing a defamation case against Mr. Gogoi. Earlier today, she shared her statement announcing that lawsuit against the Congress MP.

However, Congress MP Gaurav Gogoi is yet to respond to the defamation lawsuit charged against him.
