Three accused in politician Baba Siddique’s murder were held in police custody. Dharmaraj Kashyap, one of the accused who had claimed in court to be a minor found out to be an adult in a bone ossification test on Sunday. He was later produced before the court and sent to the police custody till October 21.
The Mumbai police investigation of the veteran NCP leader Baba Siddique who was shot dead in his son’s office in Mumbai’s Bandra on Saturday was proved to be a minor. He was brought to the court where his lawyer claimed him to be a minor.

As per the sources, the suspects have claimed that they work for gangster Lawrence Bishnoi, who is currently lodged at Gujarat’s Sabarmati jail. The police have revealed that the suspects were paid an amount of Rs 50,000 each in advance and arms were delivered to them days before the assassination.
The two arrested suspects are from the same village in the Bahraich district of Uttar Pradesh. Both belonged to regular families and have no record of criminal history, police said on Sunday.
The Mumbai police have also arrested 28-year-old Pravin Lonkar, a “co-conspirator” in the case, from Pune on Sunday evening.
The police official has said the one police constable was guarding Baba Siddique when he was fatally shot. Two pistols and 28 live cartridges were recovered from the two accused- Gurmail Singh (23) and Kashyap.
A Lawrence Bishnoi gang member of Sunday claimed responsibility for the murder saying that the attack was carried out because the politician had close ties with actor Salman Khan. Meanwhile, as the gangster Lawrance Boshnoi’s name has cropped up in the case, the Mumbai police have enhanced the security outside the house of Salman Khan.

The murder has triggered a war of words between the government and the opposition. The Congress accused the BJP of not being able to protect its own leaders. “It is a government that is on its last legs. With this, the countdown for its exit has begun,” Congress general secretary Jairam Ramesh said on X. Rahul Gandhi said the murder exposed the complete collapse of law and order in the state. “The tragic demise of Baba Siddique ji is shocking and saddening. My thoughts are with his family in this difficult time. This horrifying incident exposes the complete collapse of law and order in Maharashtra. The government must take responsibility, and justice must prevail,” Gandhi said on X.
