Hyderabad: BJP MP Eatala Rajender on Tuesday (January 21) slapped a real estate agent accused of land encroachment and harassing local people at Pocharam in Medchal-Malkajgiri district. The incident occurred while BJP leader engaged in a heated argument with the land broker resulting in physical confrontation.

The video circulated on social media shows Rajender accompanied by several party leaders, confronted the agent and then slapped him. Following his slap, tensions escalated as as others joined in confronting the brokers. Amidst the commotion between two groups, BJP leaders warned the broker to stop his illegal activities and warned legal consequences if continued to do so.

As per local media reports, the BJP leader’s visit followed after hearing complaints that land brokers, with the alleged support of police and revenue officials were producing documents and illegally occupying the vacant land belonging to the poor people.

After the incident, Rajender spoke to the media. He said that he had already informed the minister and the police that he would be coming to the spot; yet, their goons started making threats even as he arrived.

Criticising the Police, Rajender said: “Police, who are you supporting ? You have lost all respect. If you don’t protect the people, we will take matters into our own hands and remove these goons ourselves,” Hyderabad Mail reports, as Rajender is saying.

The people with struggling background are being targeted, Rajender pointed out. Continuing further, BJP MP said that in areas like Arundhati Nagar, Balaji Nagar and Jawahar Nagar, where he visited, people are building homes on small plots of land, but authorities comes to tear it down.

Rajender said that he has spoken to the revenue minister, the collector, and the police commissioner about these practices.

“Unfortunately, it seems the authorities and the police are supporting these illegal activities,” the Hyderabad Mail quotes, as Rajender is saying.

Meanwhile, Rajender’s physical confrontation has evoked mixed responses in social media. As some users lauded BJP leader’s actions and remarked it as “Good Job” and “Rightly Done”, while others questioned it. “Losing anger ?? seems like arrogance.. Should the first MP be arrested for such unruly behavior? Is he setting a precedent, or does the constitution grant parliamentarians the power to manhandle others?,” said one user on X.
