Washington, DC, US: After President Donald Trump’s inauguration, Senator Bernie Sanders shared a photo featuring tech billionaires Mark Zuckerberg, Jeff Bezos, and Elon Musk in attendance. He expressed concerns about oligarchy and the billionaire class controlling the government.
“When I started talking about Oligarchy, many people didn’t understand what I meant. Well, that’s changed,” he wrote, sharing the photo.

CEOs of the top tech giants, including Tesla, SpaceX, and X boss Elon Musk; Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg; Amazon founder Jeff Bezos; Apple CEO Tim Cook; and Google’s Sundar Pichai got prime seats at the inauguration event.
“When the 3 wealthiest men in America sit behind Trump at his inauguration, everyone understands that the billionaire class now controls our government. We must fight back,” said Sanders, the longest-serving US senator.
According to Forbes, Musk, Bezos, and Zuckerberg are the three richest people in the world.

Google co-founder Sergey Brin and X CEO Linda Yaccarino were also among those present. Brin is the seventh richest person in the world, as per Forbes.
The world’s richest man, Elon Musk, has been appointed as the head of the newly established Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) under the Trump 2.0 administration.
Contrary to their response during Trump’s first term as president, the US tech bosses tried to court favour with Trump over the weeks following his election.
All three top CEOs had made huge donations to Trump’s campaign. Musk, especially, had made huge donations along with amplifying pro-Trump voices on his social media platform, X.

Owner of The Washington Post, Bezos had sparked a huge row when he blocked the newspaper from endorsing Democratic former Vice President Kamala Harris for the 2024 election.
Notably, Musk’s SpaceX is a major government contractor; Amazon’s AWS cloud computing division and Google work with the US government. The four tech giants—Google, Apple, Meta, and Amazon—are also fighting antitrust lawsuits from the US government.
