BJP MP’s Brother Arrested For Illegal Tree Felling In Karnataka

Edited by Praveen VIkkath

Forest department officials have arrested Vikram Simha, brother of Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) Member of Parliament Pratap Simha, for illegally felling 126 trees on government land at Nandagondanahalli in Karnataka.

The Forest Department acted following a report by Belur tahsildar Mamatha, which claimed the trees were cut down to make way for ginger cultivation, and the subsequent interrogations at Vikram Simha’s residence on December 25 proved his relationship with the case without having him tracked down.

Later, Vikram Simha appeared for a statement before the Investigation Officer (IO), who subsequently registered the arrest, and Vikram Sinha’s confession on the matter avoided further investigation.
