Edited by Fazal Rahman Chembulangad

Bangalore City Police Commissioner B Dayananda today said that the Investigation in the Rameshwaram cafe blast case has been handed over to the City Crime Branch (CCB). The commissioner also said that no arrests have been made yet.

In a post on X, noting the condition of the injured in the blast, the commissioner wrote that all of them are recovering. A total of 10 people sustained injuries in Thursday’s bomb blast at the Rameshwaram Cafe in Bangalore Whitefield.

“Investigation of the case has been handed over to City Crime Branch (CCB). All the injured are recovering. No arrest made,” the commissioner wrote.

However, the police have registered an FIR under sections 307, and 471 of IPC and 16, 18 and 38 of the UAPA and  sections 3 and 4 of the Explosive Substance Act. According to sources, the suspect came in a public bus, entered the café and ordered breakfast. But he left the café without eating the dish, leaving the bag with an IED inside the café. After one hour, the blast took place.

The commissioner had in a previous post appealed the media not to indulge in speculation, asking to cooperate with police.

“As regards Rameshwaram cafe incident, investigation is in full swing. Several teams are working on different leads obtained so far. Keeping in mind the sensitivity of the case and the security concerns, media is appealed not to indulge in speculation and co-operate,” the commissioner wrote.

Union minister Pralhad Joshi after visiting the blast site said that the people who radicalized are encouraged and supported by the Congress government. Attributing the blast to the radicalization of the congress-state government, the union minister stated that the appeasement increased radicalization and then it converted to terrorism, the minister was heard saying in a video shared by news agency ANI.

BJP leader Tarun Chugh alleged that the PFI extremists are given free hand in Karnataka and the state has become a breeding ground for extremists, news agency PTI reported.

However, the police appeal to media to refrain from speculation on the blast helps prevent rumours and prejudices before the truth comes out.
