At least six workers were injured when a section of the scaffolding at an under-construction flyover near Ambur railway station on the Chennai-Bengaluru national highway collapsed on Saturday night.
The rescue efforts are ongoing to take out the remaining trapped under the debris if any. The fire and rescue personnel from Ambur are carrying out the operation.

Local police and National Highway Authority officials rushed to the accident spot soon after the collapse of the under-construction flyover and launched rescue efforts quickly.
The accident happened when scaffolding suddenly fell down as labourers were engaged in their construction work. The injured workers are from North Indian states, according to a report by The New Indian Express.
While three injured are receiving treatment at Ambur Government Hospital, three were admitted to Vellore Government Hospital for advanced treatment. The authorities are now investigating the cause of the scaffolding collapse.

The flyover was part of a Rs 143 crore expansion scheme to upgrade the highway into a six-lane road. The incident has caused traffic restrictions in the area.
