After the BJP’s accusations of Congress colluding with US billionaire George Soros and the US State Department to “destabilise” the central government, the party has hit back, pointing at PM Modi’s advisor and secretary, Dr. Shamika Ravi.
French investigative outlet Mediapart slammed the Prime Minister Narendra Modi-led government for “exploiting” its report to spread “fake news” and serve its own “political agenda” after the saffron party cited its report to accuse Congress and the US State Department of instigating disaffection against the government.

Congress leader Pawan Khera took to the social media platform X to point out that Dr. Shamika Ravi, a member of the Prime Minister’s Economic Advisory Council and a secretary with the Indian government, received a grant from the Open Society Foundation, which is funded by billionaire George Soros.
Based on the document shared by Khera, in 2008-09, Dr. Ravi received a research grant and honour from Soros’ foundation for ‘Impact Assessment of Financial Literacy.’
Sharing the document of Dr. Ravi, the Congress leader wrote, “Will @PMOIndia remove her and institute an enquiry on what all she has done or is doing to ‘destabilise India’?”

In the parliament, the BJP cited Mediapart’s reporting on investigative media network, the Organised Crime and Corruption Reporting Project (OCCRP), to raise accusations against Congress and its leaders of targeting PM Modi. However, Mediapart said, “There are no facts available supporting the conspiracy theory promoted by BJP.”
Notably, the OCCRP has published several investigative reports about the alleged financial misconduct by the Adani Group.
After the BJP raised the accusation, the US embassy in India on Saturday called it “disappointing that the ruling party in India would make these kinds of accusations.”
