“The future is not so bright. I am not sure if the India bloc is still intact,” Chidambaram said, denoting that the bloc is only frayed, and it can be put together anytime if it wants to take on the “formidable BJP” missionary.

“In my experience and my reading of history, there has been no political party which is so formidably organized as BJP. In every department it is formidable,” the senior leader added.

The Congress leader further pointed out that from the Election Commission to the lowest police station in the country, the BJP was able to control and sometimes capture all these institutions.

In response to Congress leader’s remark, BJP national spokesperson Pradeep Bhandari on Friday said that “even Rahul Gandhi’s close aides know ‘Congress has no future’ “. In a social media post, the BJP leader claimed that Chidambaram predicted opposition will not be intact in future as BJP is a formidable organisation.

BJP IT cell head Amit Malviya  also reacted to the Congress leader’s speech, saying the grand old party was scarred by successive electoral defeats, and its leader’s remark was a confession, noting that Chidambaram used the word formidable six times in his speech that lasted less than three times.
