New Delhi: While addressing at the inauguration event of new Congress headquarters in Delhi on Wednesday (January 15), Lok Sabha LoP and Congress leader Rahul Gandhi heavily criticised RSS chief Mohan Bhagwat for latter’s ‘independence’ remark. In a speech on Tuesday, RSS supremo said that India never achieved true independence in 1947, but rather when the Ram Mandir was built.

RSS chief has “audacity” to inform the nation every 2-3 days his thoughts about the independent movement and, Constitution, Congress leader said and added that  what he said in the yesterday’s speech is “treason”, in any other country, he would be arrested and tried.

“The Constitution was essentially attacked yesterday by Mohan Bhagwat when he said that the Constitution was not the symbol of our freedom, but also after that, thousands of our workers died in Punjab, Kashmir, Northeast and this party (Congress) has stood for a particular set of values,” Rahul Gandhi said.

We can see those values in the new Congress building, he added.

Gandhi said that unlike the Western world that emphasises on “outside the self”, the Indian way of thinking focuses on “understanding the self”. The great masters priroritised about “understanding precisely who you are, where you come from, and where your nature is”; the Bhagwat Gita, Kabir, Guru Nanak and all asked the fundamental question, “who are you,” Gandhi said.

The real fight in India is taking between two visions, Gandhi stated.
