"Crime Is Flourishing…”: Tejashwi Yadav Attacks Nitish Kumar After BJP Leader's Murder

Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) leader Tejashwi Yadav has criticised former ally and Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar following the murder of a BJP leader in Patna on Monday morning. Munna Sharma was killed by three unidentified assailants who shot him while attempting to snatch his chain.

The incident occurred near a restaurant in Patna. Sharma was rushed to a hospital, but he died during treatment. The police are currently reviewing CCTV footage to identify the attackers.

In a post on X, Yadav alleged that crime is rampant in the state and that NDA leaders are unaware. He stated, “Crime is flourishing in Bihar under the protection of the government. Criminals are shooting people whenever and wherever they want and escaping. In the video, the criminals can be seen fleeing after shooting a BJP leader. NDA leaders are oblivious to the rising crime. Bihar is not being managed at all by the exhausted Chief Minister, who is preoccupied elsewhere.”

Yadav then attacked Prime Minister Narendra Modi, saying, “Look at how in Bihar, under your so-called ‘Mangal Raj,’ criminals first attempted to snatch a chain from your leader and then shot him.”

He added, “Now the NDA leaders will say, friends, who is dying in the rising crime rates? How are they dying? Why are they dying? Who is killing them? They will continue to ignore these questions and play the same old tape of what happened decades/centuries/ages ago. Then, the crime will somehow stop on its own.”

Yadav also questioned whether there is a Chief Minister in Bihar, noting, “The residents of the state have no sense of it. There is no statement on crime, no action, no communication with the media or the public! Officials certainly won’t tell them that crime has definitely increased in the state.”

According to reports, Munna Sharma, a former BJP mandal president, was attacked around 6.15 am while trying to get an auto to take a relative to the station. When three men on a two-wheeler attempted to snatch his chain, Sharma resisted. One of the attackers then shot him before fleeing.

Patna police are reviewing CCTV footage to identify the suspects and are investigating any potential additional motives behind Sharma’s killing.
