According to him, the Swachh Bharat Abhiyan, the cleaning mission, became the inspiration for the ‘Vocal For Local’ mission and is opening doors to a “Developed India – Prosperous India”. The Vocal for Local is a campaign to strengthen the economy of the country and guarantees employment and development.

The PM promised that the mission will provide a balanced development of the country, with equal opportunities to both urban and rural people. He hopes the decision would pave a way for the value addition in local products. “This also paves the way for Value Addition in local products, and if ever, there are ups and downs in the global economy, the mantra of Vocal For Local also protects our economy”, said Mr Modi.

Then the Prime Minister explained his stand as the sentiment towards Indian products should not be limited to festivals only. He took particularly the wedding festivities and estimated at least 5 lakh crore business could be happen in the upcoming wedding season in the country. He pressed the people to buy only Indian products while shopping for weddings. ”While shopping for weddings, all of you should give importance to products made in India only”, he said.

“One thing has been troubling me off and on for a long time”, he said and asked why people are going abroad with their families to conduct weddings. “Is this all necessary”? According to him, if people are ready to celebrate the marriages on Indian soil itself, the country’s money will remain in the country.

“Why don’t we hold such wedding ceremonies in our own country? It is possible that the kind of system you want may not be there today, but if we organize such events, systems will also develop”, the Prime Minister said. “This is a topic to very big families. I hope this pain of mine will definitely reach those big families”, he added to his concern of foreign destination weddings.
