Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) filed a complaint with the police on Tuesday alleging that the supporters of the Rajya Sabha member Syed Nasir Hussain raised pro-Pakistan slogans following his victory declaration.
Taking the issue to X, the BJP Karnataka wrote, “Hon”ble CM @siddaramaiah, your @INCKarnataka new Rajya Sabha member @NasirHussainINC supporters shouted Pakistan Zindabad slogan in Vidhan soudha premises. Investigate slogans shouted by supporters of MP Naseer Hussain and arrest anti-nationals.”

As per the complaint filed by the BJP members, after the declaration of the victory of Hussain by the returning officer, Hussain’s supporters gathered at Vidhana Soudha allegedly shouted “Pakistan Zindabad” slogans in celebration.
“It was as if these supporters of Nasir Hussain shouted those slogans of PAKISTAN ZINDABAD hailing and praising Pakistan on the election of Nasir Hussain to the Rajya Sabha or Upper House in India,” the complaint read.
Heating up the situation, several media without doing a proper fact-check, published news. However, Alt News co-founder and fact-checker Muhammed Zubair has come up shedding light on the situation.
He shared a series of posts on X, bringing out the real truth behind the propagated news.
Sharing the video on X, Muhammed Zubair wrote, “A video of @NasirHussainINC“s supporters saying “Nasir Saab Zindabad” is reported/shared by several Kannada News Channels with the claim that it is “Pakistan Zindabad”. The same is now getting shared by several BJP supporters..”

He has also shared the Kannada news channel reports propagating the lie of ‘Pakistan Zindabad’ slogans being heard. Major Kannada news outlets, including TV9, Suvarna News, Public TV, Vistara News, News First, and Republic Kannada, propagated the false claim that the slogans were in support of Pakistan.
“Kannada News Channels are propagating the lie of “Pakistan Zindabad” slogans being heard. The supporters of @NasirHussainINC said “Nasir Saab Zindabad”. The lies by the News channels is picked up by BJP leaders like @ShobhaBJP @RAshokaBJP @BYVijayendra in Karnataka. Even the reporters present there have denied pro-Pakistan slogans were raised.”

The fact-checker shared the video in which it could be properly heard that the MPs were raising the slogan ‘Nasir Hussain Zindabad’ and not ‘Pakistan Zindabad’. “Here is the video from another angle. The person says “Nasir Hussain Zindabad… Nasir Saab Zindabad” When will @siddaramaiah take action against these News Channels for spreading Communal Disinformation,” he wrote.

Zubair also claimed that at least 5 News reporters have only denied listening to ‘Pakistan Zindabad’ slogans. He in his post criticized BJP members for taking up the disinformation campaign which was initially begun by the local news channel. Alt News has written at least 20 fact checks to misinformation to the ‘Pakistan Zindabad’ slogan.
