Farmers To Hold Protest March To Delhi On October 23, Demand CEC's Resignation

The Samyukt Kisan Morcha (SKM) has announced a protest march to Delhi and nationwide demonstrations for October 23, 2026, demanding the resignation of Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) Gyanesh Kumar’s over alleged irregularities in the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls.

Different farmers’ groups are expected to join the massive rally, which has notably, widened the protest beyond student and youth groups. As the Election Commission maintains that the revision aims to ensure accurate electoral rolls, the Supreme Court has sought responses in petitions challenging aspects of the process.
