“Glad to see that Adani TV has a copy of the Unethical Standing Committee Report before it is placed before the Committee tomorrow,” reacted Trinamool Congress MP Mahua Moitra to the reports of the Parliamentary Ethics Committee recommending her expulsion from the Lok Sabha in light of the cash-for-query allegations. Gautam Adani-owned NDTV had reported, citing sources, that the TMC MP”s actions were “highly objectionable, unethical, heinous, and criminal” and called for severe punishment. The MP has been a vocal critic of Gautam Adani and his business dealings for a long time, and the charges against her were that she had taken bribes from Adani”s business rivals in exchange for asking questions in Parliament.

According to the NDTV report, the panel advises the Centre to hold a legal, intensive, institutional and time-bound investigation into the matter.
Meanwhile, BJP MP Dr Nishikant Dubey on Wednesday claimed that on the basis of his complaint, Lokpal has ordered a CBI enquiry into TMC MP”s alleged involvement in the cash-for-query scam risking national security. He announced it on X platform in Hindi.
लोकपाल ने आज मेरे कम्प्लेन पर आरोपी सांसद महुआ जी के राष्ट्रीय सुरक्षा को गिरवी रखकर भ्रष्टाचार करने पर CBI inquiry का आदेश दिया

However, no official confirmation has come from the investigation agency.
The Parliamentary Ethics Committee was to convene on Thursday to adopt a draft report on said matter. The meeting of the panel led by Vinod Kumar Sonkar was planned to meet on November 7, then it rescheduled to November 9. The cash-for-query complaint was lodged by BJP MP against Ms Moitra alleging that she took bribes for raising questions in the Parliament at the behest of businessman Darshan Hiranandani.
Lok Sabha Ethics Panel convened to look into the affair. The body consisted of 15 members where seven members from the ruling BJP, three from the Congress, and one each from BSP, Shiv Sena, YSRCP, CPI(M) and JDU.
Ms Moitra appeared before the Ethics panel in last week, however, she along with opposition members walked out the meeting claiming the chairperson asked personal and indecent questions. In a letter addressed to Speaker Om Birla she accused the ethics panel chief of subjecting her to “proverbial vastraharan (stripping).”
