The India Meteorological Department (IMD) informed us on Wednesday that the minimum temperature in most parts of the plains of Northwest India is in the range of 7°C–10°C and is either normal or higher than normal in most parts of the country. Earlier, IMD warned that very dense fog is likely to prevail over the northwest and some adjoining parts of central India in the next two to three weeks.
The weather department also informed about the fog conditions in different parts of the country, as Punjab is likely to witness fog from December 27th to December 31st, 2023; Haryana, Chandigarh, Uttar Pradesh, and Delhi may witness fog from December 27th to December 29th, 2023; and some isolated pockets of north Rajasthan and north Madhya Pradesh today, i.e., December 27, 2023.

India Meteorological Department officials cite a possible thin layer in parts of Punjab and Haryana and very dense fog in Amritsar, Patiala, Halwara, Ludhiana, Bathinda, and Faridkot in Punjab and Karnal, Ambala, Hisar, and Sirsa in Haryana, while dry weather in Jammu and Kashmir with moderate to dense fog is expected until December 31, 2023, over Central Kashmir, Pulwama, and Baramulla.
The MeT forecasts light rain and snow in scattered places with cloudy skies during January 1–2. In a press release published on December 25, the IMD said that there was a high probability of dense to very dense fog persisting in the early and morning hours across specific regions.
