Humiliation in school drove a 14-year-old student to commit suicide. The student was in class 8 of a government school in Karnataka’s Bagalkote taluk and belonged to Kadampura village.
As per the Police reports, a teacher in school reporting a theft allegedly strip-searched the deceased along with four other students. The embarrassment prompted the student to end her life on Saturday, two days after the incident.
The incident happened on Thursday, March 14 when the Salong with four girls were called up on after a language teacher doubted them of stealing Rs 2,000 from her. The teaching faculty, including the headmaster, allegedly asked the girls to remove their uniforms to search for the missing money and thereby to “prove” their innocence.
The incident left the deceased girl humiliated and allegedly forced her to take this step, her parents told the police. In the complaint registered, the girl”s parents have accused the teachers for her death, Hindustan Times reports.
BK Nandanur, Bagalkote district deputy public instruction told that they will launch an investigation into the matter.
Santhosh Dalavai, Bagalkote rural police station inspector told Hindustan Times: “We have registered a case under IPC Section 306 (abetment of suicide) against head teacher K H Mujawar and Jayashri Mishrikoti, followed by a complaint of the deceased’s parents.”
