Madhavi Raje Scindia, the mother of Union Minister of Jyotiraditya Scindia died today. She was undergoing treatment at the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) for the past three months and has been on ventilator for the past few days. She was suffering from pneumonia and sepsis, said media report. She died at 9.28 am today.

Union minister Jyotiraditya Scindia”s mother and the Rajmata of the Gwalior royal family, Rajmata Madhavi Raje Scindia, had been undergoing treatment at AIIMS Hospital in Delhi for the past two months. Her condition had been extremely critical for the past two weeks. This morning at 9:28am, she took her last breath at AIIMS Hospital in Delhi. Om Shanti”, as quoted in a press statement.

The BJP leader and the Union Civil Aviation Minister and his wife were in Guna Ashoknagar and Shivpuri for the past month and was engaged in election campaign for the ongoing Lok Sabha election. Scindia is contesting from the Guna constituency. Jyotiraditya Scindia along with his wife Priyadarshini Raje and son Mahaaryaman Scindia, who were engaged in the election campaign had to leave midway and go to Delhi.

Madahvi Raje Scindia was a princess form royal family of Nepal. She was married to Madhavrao Scindia, who was reportedly known as the Maharaja of Gwalior, in 1966. Madhavrao Scindia died in a plane crash in 2001, in Uttar Pradesh”s Mainpuri.

Kamal Nath, the former chief minister of Madhya Pradesh responded to the news of the death and expressed that it is “extremely sad and painful”.
