Mahua Moitra Remarks Against NCW Chief Rekha Sharma Stirs Controversy
Trinamool Congress MP Mahua Moitra stirred a new controversy with her “pajamas” remarks at the chairperson of the National Commission for Women (NCW), Rekha Sharma, who visited Hathras to meet the women victims of the stampede.
The NCW chief on July 4 went to Hathras to meet the women who were injured in the tragic incident, and videos that appeared on social media showed that someone was holding an umbrella for her. Seeing the video, several users remarked on why the NCW chief could not hold the umbrella herself.

Sharing the video, journalist Nidhi Razdan also asked the same question. TMC MP responded to the post by attacking NCW chief, “She’s too busy holding up her boss’s pajamas.” The remark stands deleted now.
Mahua Moitra‘s spiteful comment has evoked strong reaction from NCW chief who called the TMC MP a “troll”, Times of India reports. Besides, in an explanatory post regarding the incident, she wrote on X: “I didn’t ask for it nor did I realised that someone is carrying umbrella as there was so much rush&I was engrossed in the situation&talking to people.”

Meanwhile, NCW took suo moto cognizance of TMC MP’s derogatory remarks and demanded an FIR against Mahua Moitra.

The BJP has also reacted sharply to Mahua’s remark on the NCW chief. BJP spokesperson Shehzad Poonawalla on X dismissed her comments as “disgusting” and in another post, sharing the screenshot of TMC MP’s post, she said that it revealed the “True Face of TMC & INDI”.

Continuing further he demanded that Mahua Moitra should be sacked by TMC.
“Will Priyanka Vadra,Rahul Gandhi, Kharge ji, Sonia Gandhi, Priyanka Chaturvedi, AAP call this out ? Will Mamata Didi act on her ? Nope just like they remained silent on Sandeshkhali & Chopra,” he added.
However, a defiant Mahua Moitra responded to the NCW tweets about their complaints to the Delhi police and action taken report they demanded in three days-time.
