"Lost My Uterus, My House": TMC's Mahua Moitra Slams BJP In Her Fiery Speech

Trinamool Congress (TMC) leader Mahua Moitra made her comeback with a fiery speech in the Lok Sabha yesterday with the support of fellow party member Saayoni Ghosh, openly expressing her support.

Reelected as an MP from Krishnanagar in West Bengal, Moitra said, “Much like Lord Krishna protected Draupadi, the people of Krishnanagar have protected me.”

On December 8, 2023, Moitra was expelled from Parliament following the tabling of a report by the Lok Sabha Ethics Committee in a “cash-for-query” case.

Hitting back at the Prime Minister Narendra Modi-led NDA government, the TMC MP said that several people thought she had lost much, including her membership in the Lower House and her house in Delhi. She added that she had also lost her uterus due to surgery. However, she asserted, “But you know what I gained? I gained what Rahul ji said: freedom from fear.”

Sitting beside Moitra was the first-time MP from Jadavpur, Saayoni Ghosh, who expressed her vocal support by thumping the table and cheering for Moitra.

Moitra continued slamming the central government, “I do not fear you. I will see the end of you. We will see the end of you (the BJP). Your ED, your CBI, your income tax department, your trolls, your media, your bought-out judges – nobody can scare us.” In a show of solidarity, Ghosh continued thumping the table throughout Moitra’s speech.

The TMC MP also challenged the centre’s claims of women’s empowerment by accusing the saffron party of delaying women’s reservation as they fear strong women. She stated how the TMC ad 37 percent women MPs last time and 38 percent this time, while the BJP only had 30 women MPs out of 240.
