“Truth Can Be…”: Rahul Gandhi On Portions Of His Lok Sabha Speech Expunged

Responding to some of his remarks that were expunged in the Lok Sabha, Leader of the Opposition in the Lok Sabha, Rahul Gandhi said “everything is expunged in PM Modi’s world.”

Standing outside the Parliament, Gandhi told the media, “Truth can be expunged in Modi ji’s world but not in reality. I said what I had to say, that is the truth. They can expunge as much as they want. Truth is truth.”

As the Leader of the Opposition, the Congress leader accused the BJP leaders of dividing people on communal lines. His remarks in his first address led to massive protests from the Treasury benches, with Prime Minister Modi criticising him for calling the entire Hindu community “violent.” However, Gandhi was quick to retort, “Modi, the BJP, and the RSS don’t represent all Hindus. The BJP does not have a monopoly over Hindu religion.”

While quoting Prophet Muhammad and holding up pictures of Lord Shiva, Guru Nanak, and Jesus Christ, Gandhi referred to the importance of fearlessness mentioned in all religions, including Hinduism, Christianity, Jainism, Islam, Sikhism, and Buddhism. As protests erupted from the Treasury benches, the Chair resorted to striking his remarks off the record.

Along with that, Gandhi’s accusations about the BJP treating minority communities unfairly, the NEET exam being for the rich and privileged sections and having no space for meritorious students, remarks on Adani and Ambani, as well as his criticism of the Agniveer Scheme, were also expunged from the Parliament proceedings.
