Indians Call For Boycott Of US Brands Amid Trump's Tariff Rise

New Delhi: Boycott calls are intensifying on social media in India against prominent US brands following US President Donald Trump’s 50% tariffs on the country. Users on X have undertaken a massive campaign against US companies such as McDonald’s and Coca-Cola, Amazon and Apple, among other American multinational firms, and their products.

As the world’s most populous nation, India has been one of the major markets for US goods, including the premium foreign brands tapping the increasingly affluent consumers in the country, who see those brands as symbols of status. However, the recent developments have stoked anti-US sentiments among the people.

Taking part in the protest campaign, an X user, Preeta Rajput, observed that the boycott call could bring about significant change, underlining that customers in the country have the power to support local businesses and promote Indian products!
