Meghalaya Murder Case: Sonam Raghuwanshi, one of the prime suspect in the murder of her husband Raja Raghuvanshi, in her statement to Uttar Pradesh police told that she was brought to Ghazipur after being drugged. Police found her at a roadside eatery in the state’s Ghazipur district on Monday.
The Indore couple – Raja and Sonam, had gone missing on May 23 during their honeymoon in Meghalaya. The husband’s body was found in a deep gorge near a waterfall in Sohra area (Cherrapunjee) in Meghalaya on June 2. The search continued for Sonam.

A week later, Sonam surrendered to the police, and she was arrested along with four other people in connection with the murder. Among the four, 21-year-old Raj Singh Kushwaha was arrested as the prime accused and is suspected of having been in a relationship with Sonam Raghuvanshi.
The Police are currently obtaining CCTV footage from the area around the eatery, from where Sonam, who went missing called her family early Monday. Her family immediately contacted the Madhya Pradesh police, they rushed to the spot and caught her.
“The woman claimed she had no idea how she ended up at the dhaba in Ghazipur, and did not know who had brought her there. The police checked the footage of the CCTV installed close to the dhaba to verify her claim,” a senior police officer told Indian Express.

However, there are reports that the police have found no evidence to suggest that anyone else brought her to the dhaba.
Meanwhile, UP Police’s Additional Director General (Law and Order) Amitabh Yash told NDTV: “Sonam is a poor planner. She lacked knowledge of police procedures and thought she could escape by posing as a victim, but she failed. The Meghalaya police have done excellent work and are currently handling the case. If they seek assistance, we will provide it.”
