Mumbai, Maharashtra: The Mumbai police arrested a lawyer from Chhattisgarh’s Raipur for allegedly threatening to kill Shah Rukh Khan. Reportedly, the lawyer also demanded Rs 50 lakh from Khan last week. The Mumbai police has filed an extortion case against the lawyer.
Police confirmed the arrest of Faizan Khan (42), and said that he would be produced before a local court in the city. The Mumbai police will seek transit remand of the lawyer. He was summoned by the Mumbai police in connection with the case last Tuesday, but he failed to appear. The motive behind the call to kill the superstar was not made clear.
The lawyer claimed that his phone was stolen, and the call was made while it was missing.
The Bandra police filed case under sections 308(4) (extortion involving threats of death or serious injury) and 351(3)(4) (criminal intimidation) of Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) against the caller who threatened Shah Rukh Khan.

The threat call against the star was received at the Bandra police station. Constable Santosh Ghodke (32), attended the call at the Bandra police station on November 7. The caller told constable Ghodke: “Shah Rukh Khan, the one at Mannat, Bandstand… if he doesn’t give me 50 lakh rupees, I will kill him”, as quoted by media.
When questioned about his identity, the caller responded: “Doesn’t matter… if you need a name, write it as Hindustani” before disconnecting.
Earlier, Faiza Khan has filed a complaint at Khamardih police station that his mobile phone was missing or stolen. The complaint was filed on November 2nd.

Shah Rukh Khan’s security was upgraded to Y+ category by the Maharashtra government after receiving death threats post the release of ‘Pathaan’, and ‘Jawan’, based on a written complaint.
The Y+ category is typically granted to individuals facing high threat levels. It includes six personal security officers working in three shifts continuously, and five armed guards at the person’s residence, as per police officials.
