The Mumbai police has issued certain preventative measures under CrPC section 144 in all areas under their jurisdiction. The section will be on effect from 20th December 2023 to 18th January 2024. An official order has been released to prevent disturbances to law and order in Brihanmumbai Police Commissionerate area from any kind of terrorists/anti-national elements.

The Deputy Commissioner of Brihanmumbai stated in the notice issued that no flying activities of drone, remote controlled micro-light aircrafts, para gliders, para motors, hand gliders, hot air balloons, etc are restricted in the region for the next 30 days except for aerial surveillance by Mumbai Police or by specific the permission of the deputy commissioner.

“It has become necessary that certain restrictions should be put on the activities of such elements across the Brihanmumbai Police Commissionerate to prevent probable sabotages through such drones, remote controlled micro-light aircrafts, para-gliders, for which some preventative and proactive measures needed to be taken to prevent the same,” the order said.


The order will be in effect from 00.01 hrs of 20/12/2023 till 24 hrs of 18/01/2024 unless withdrawn earlier.

Any person who contravenes the order will be charged under section 188 of the Indian Penel code.

As per the notice issued by the Mumbai police, this preventive measures were taken to prevent probable sabotage using drones or any flying items as they may be used to endanger the life of public or to cause damage to public property or law and order.
