Mumbai Resident Places Food Ordered Worth Rs. 42.3 lakh, Says Swiggy

As 2023 is about to end, citing biggest trends in this year, Swiggy claims that a user from Mumbai had placed food orders valuing Rs. 42.3 lakh from their online delivery platform. In a blog post titled, “How India Swiggy’d 2023- unwrapping India’s year in on-demand convenience” they unveiled the interesting data regarding the people’s food preferences and choices across India. The report was based on the orders placed on Swiggy from January 1 to November 23. The delivery platform revealed that 6,64,46,312 unique dishes were ordered on Swiggy’s menu across India.

Referring the biggest trends of 2023, Swiggy wrote: “A user from Mumbai, who placed food orders worth ₹ 42.3 lakh (no, that’s not a CTC).” Besides, the report denotes that maximum orders were placed by user accounts from the cities Delhi, Hyderabad, and Chennai and they have placed above 10,000 each. Swiggy remarks that as per their insights, biggest party host was from Jhansi who placed an order with 269 items. Notably, a household in Bhubaneswar had ordered 207 pizzas in a single day.

Bengaluru aced the title of “Cake Capital” by placing 8.5 million orders, where the Chocolate Cake earned the praise of Bengaluru people’s favourite. Food delivery platform claims that Biriyani topped their list as “the most-ordered dish” and its the eighth consecutive year the dish attains the first position. As per their date India ordered 2.5 biryanis per second in 2023, and “for every 5.5 chicken biryanis, there was one veg biryani ordered,” Swiggy wrote. Apart from these, Swiggy identified India’s most relished dishes as Gulab Jamuns, Masala Dosa, Idli, and Japanese cuisines.

“Each stat and insight uncovered in our revelations of 2023, is a testament to the diverse palates and evolving food and on-demand delivery culture across India and tells a story of a year well-Swiggy’d,” blog post added. This marks eighth year where Swiggy unveiling their annual data regarding food orders, and preferences according to the order users put in the app.
