After a fake claim about Lok Sabha speaker Om Birla’s daughter was disseminated by a parody X handle of reputed Youtuber Dhruv Rathi, Maharashtra Nodal cyber police reportedly registered an FIR against the social commentator. The alleged fake message claimed that Lok Sabha Speaker’s daughter, Anjali Arora, cleared the Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) examination without appearing for the tests.

The police have lodged the case under the Bhartiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) section for defamation with intentional insult. Notably, with the police case, many have pointed out a lack of logic in registering the case against Dhruv for the post made by a “random parody” account.

Addressing a report by Times Of India, Dhruv Rathi, in a post on X, today asked the media house, “Why is your Newspaper’s front page spreading fake news about me?”

The YouTuber then urged the media outlet to “go and use the eyes to see that this alleged post was done by some random parody Twitter account. “I have nothing to do with this,” the Youtuber wrote.

An X user, Joy, sharing the report on the FIR against the Youtuber, wrote, “The stupidity is unbelievable. Some so-called “Parody” handles of Dhruv Rathee (using different spelling) made fake claims from its handle and this is how Media Reports it and people are targeting Dhruv Rathe over this and demanding action against him.”

Parody is a commentary, or a fan account that shows another person, group, or organisation in their profile to discuss, satirise, or share information about that entity. There were no such claims against the speaker’s daughter from the YouTuber’s official handle.

However, according to reports, the police are currently investigating whether the account from which this tweet was made is genuine or not.

“India is the only country where you can clear the UPSC without sitting in the examination, but for that, you have to be born as the daughter of Lok Sabha speaker Om Birla. Om Birla’s daughter, Anjali Birla cleared the UPSC without giving any examination. She is a model by profession. The Modi government is making a mockery of our education system,” the parody X handle had claimed.

Anjali had cracked the UPSC’s three-test exams in the first attempt, and her name is also on the merit roll for the Civil Services (Main) Exam 2019. Police said, dismissing the fake claims.
