The uproar in the Parliament began when Rahul unleashed the attack on the saffron party stating that, “Hinduism is not about spreading fear, hatred and falsehoods”.
Rahul Gandhi armed with a copy of the Constitution and photos of religious icons including photos of Lord Shiva, Prophet Muhammed, and Guru Nanak Singh unleashed an attack on BJP and RSS claiming that neither represents all Hindus.
PM Modi stood up and objected to Gandhi’s remark. “Calling the entire Hindu community violent is a very serious matter,” he said.
Gandhi’s remark started a war of words between the Congress-led INDIA bloc and the ruling National Democratic Alliance (NDA).
PM Modi in his second intervention said that the Constitution had taught him to respect the post of the Leader of the Opposition, which is held by Mr Gandhi.
Union Minister Amit Shah later slammed Rahul Gandhi’s remark and demanded an apology. “In this country, millions of people call themselves Hindu. Do they commit violence?” said Shah. “Associating the sentiment of violence with any religion is wrong, and he should apologise for this.”
Once the ruckus subsided, Rahul Gandhi slammed the BJP government’s Agnipath scheme and said that the Centre is using the soldiers as “use and throw” labour.
