In yet another incident of hit-and-run, Madhuri, the daughter of YSR Congress Party (YSRCP) Rajya Sabha MP Beeda Masthan Rao, ran speeding BMW over a man sleeping on the pavement. The victim, 21-year-old painter in Chennai, died of injuries and the woman got bail hours after being arrested by the Chennai police on Tuesday. The driver, Madhuri allegedly run her BMW car over the victim, Surya.
This high-profile case follows the Pune Porsche incident in which a minor and the son of a prominent businessman rammed his luxury car into a two-wheeler, killing two young engineers. The accused driver was released on bail hours after his arrest. However, following widespread outcry, the court ordered the teen to be lodged at an observation home for investigation.
It was reported that while Madhuri fled the spot immediately, the accompanying woman argued with the people and left the scene after some time.

The police, after reviewing CCTV camera footage, identified that the car as belongs to the YSRCP Rajya Sabha MP. The cops then tracked down the accused driver and her friend using the number from which they had called for an ambulance. Madhuri’s friend was heard telling locals that they called for an ambulance to take Surya to the hospital, India Today reported citing a video emerged from the spot.
The Adyar Traffic Investigation Wing Police has registered a case under section 304 A of the IPC (causing death by negligence), a bailable offence, and issued a summons to the car owner. However, the relatives of the deceased have gathered at the J-5 Shastri Nagar Police Station, seeking justice for Surya who had married eight months ago.
