Pune Porsche Case: Rs 3 Lakhs Paid To Doctors To Manipulate Blood Samples, Says Sources

Two senior doctors involved in tampering the blood samples were arrested in the Pune Porsche crash on Monday. They had allegedly manipulated the blood samples of the 17-year-old. As per an NDTV report, sources have confirmed that the peon, Atuk Ghatkamble, who has acted as the middleman, collected Rs three lakh bride from the teen’s family and handed over to the doctors.

The peon was arrested by the investigation team just hours after Dr. Ajay Taware, head of the hospital’s Forensic Medicine Department, and Dr Shrihari Halnor, the chief medical officer of the hospital were taken into custody.

The three have been remanded in police custody till May 30. The police found out during the investigation that the teen accused’s father had spoken over the phone and had offered allurements to replace the blood samples.

Officials have said that the samples were switched to remove the traces of alcohol. Pune Police Commissioner Amitesh Kumar had said that the blood samples collected at the hospital and sent for forensic tests were not of the juvenile accused.

Of the total amount, the Pune Police has recovered Rs 2.5 lakh from Halnor and the remaining Rs 50,000 from Ghatkamble, who worked under Taware.

During the investigation, it was found that the teen’s original blood sample was disposed of in a dustbin. On Monday, the public prosecutor told the court in Pune that the doctors had misused their position for financial gains.

Dr Taware hinting at further revelation during the investigation stated, “I will not keep quiet. I will take everyone’s name”.

Pune Police commissioner has explained that the blood samples were taken from the teen at Sassoon Hospital around 11 am on May 19. As the minor’s samples were replaced, the report showed no traces of alcohol. However, the CCTV footage from the bar he visited the night showed him drinking with friends.

In the tragic incident that occurred on May 19, two young IT professionals were killed on the spot after the motorcycle was hit by the speeding Porche allegedly driven by the 17-year-old.
