Mumbai police has registered an FIR against Sajjan Jindal, the Chairman and Managing Director of JSW group on Wednesday on the charges of rape. According to the complainant, an actress, the incident took place in January 2022 in the penthouse atop of the company’s head office at the Bandra-Kurla complex.
The actress has earlier filed a written complaint against Jindal to the BKC police in February this year. Initially the BKC police paid no heed to the case and she was forced to approach the court, which ordered the police to register the complaint.
The women claimed in the complaint that she first met Jindal in October 2021 in Dubai during an IPL cricket match. Later they met during a wedding ceremony at Jaipur. “We had exchanged numbers and met in Mumbai because he had expressed interest in buying property from my brother who is a real estate consultant in Dubai,” said the complainant.
During their subsequent interaction through text messages, Jindal expressed romantic feelings despite being married, reports Hindustan Times.
As per the complaint filed, the incident took place in January 2022, when the actress went to the company’s headquarters for a meeting. Despite her constant protest and refusal, Jindal forced him upon her.
The complainant said that she tried to maintain a friendship with him even after the incident, but Jindal stopped responding to her and later blocked her number and also threatened her that she will have to face consequences if tries to approach the police.
Based on the actress statement, the accused was booked under Sections 376 (rape), 354 (assault or use of criminal force on a woman, intending to outrage her modesty) and 506 (criminal intimidation) of the Indian Penal Code.
