The journalist’s alleged video against the Assam government raised questions about its allotment of 3000 bighas of land to a private entity in the state. In the mentioned video, Sharma spoke about a Gauhati High Court observation, in which the court expressed shock and displeasure over the Assam government allotting around 3,000 bighas of land to a private cement company for the purpose of mining in the Dima Hasao region of Assam.

Notably, in this context, Sharma alleged that the Assam government had given 9000 bighas of land to the Adani Group and accused Assam chief minister Himanta Biswa Sarma of favoring the Adani Group. The Assam police registered an FIR against the journalist under Section 152 of BNS.
