The Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma shared the news of establishing the New Assam State School Education Board by merging the Board of Secondary Education (SEBA) and Assam Higher School Education Council (AHSEC). The Assam CM said the decision aligns with the National Education Policy 2020.
“In a major milestone towards taking our education sector to new heights and in conformity with NEP 2020, we have merged SEBA & AHSEC to form a unified 𝐀𝐬𝐬𝐚𝐦 𝐒𝐭𝐚𝐭𝐞 𝐒𝐜𝐡𝐨𝐨𝐥 𝐄𝐝𝐮𝐜𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐁𝐨𝐚𝐫𝐝”, the Assam CM wrote on social media X. “The new board will synchronize school education tailored to the needs of the 21st century”, he added further.

Himanta Biswa Sarma also shared the governor of Assam orders, consequent to the enactment of the Assam State School Education Board Act, 2024 and merging of Board of Secondary Education, Assam and Assam Higher Secondary Education Council.

As per the governors orders under the clause 5 of the given act, R.C Jain (retd) has been appointed as the chairman of Assam State School Education Board for a term of 3 years or upto 70 years whichever is less from the date of issue. R. C Jain has been released from his earlier charge of Chairman of School Education Board (SEBA) of Assam.
Also following the orders, Rukma Gohain Baruah, is appointed as the Vice-Chairman of the Assam State School Baord for a term of 3 years or upto 70 years which ever is earlier. Now Rukuma Gohain Baruah has been released from the charges of Chairman of Assam Higher Secondary Education Council (AHSEC) with immediate effect.
