Khalistani Threat: India Reacts To Security Breach During Jaishankar UK Visit

London, United Kingdom: India on Thursday condemned a security breach incident towards External Affairs Minister (EAM) S. Jaishankar in London. Khalistani extremists tried to attack the Indian minister as he was returning from an event at Chatham House, an independent policy institute in London, where he attended a session on Wednesday.

Reacting to the incident, Randhir Jaiswal, the Ministry of External Affairs spokesperson, stated that they have seen the footage of a breach of security during the external affairs minister’s visit to the UK.

“We condemn the provocative activities of this small group of separatists and extremists. We deplore the misuse of democratic freedom by such elements. We expect the host government in such cases to fully live up to their diplomatic obligations,” the spokesperson said.

A video shared on X showed a man rushing towards Jaishankar’s vehicle and tearing the Indian national flag. There were pro-Khalistan demonstrators gathered outside the venue, and they were seen waving Khalistani flags and protesting against the visit of India’s External Affairs Minister. The police pushed the protesters back as they moved quickly towards the minister.

Jaishankar was on an official trip to the UK from March 4 to 9. During the discussions at Chatham House had claimed that Indian could restore growth, economic activities and social justice in Kashmir. He also pointed out that the assembly elections were conducted successfully. The foreign minister also praised the removal of article 370 as a number one step towards progress.

Notably, the minister also stated that Pakistan-occupied Kashmir is a part of India, adding that every Indian political party was committed to ensuring that POK returns to the country. “I think the part we are waiting for is the return of the stolen part of Kashmir, which is on the, the illegal Pakistani occupation. When that’s done, I assure you. Kashmir solved,” the minister said.
