Sidhu Moose Wala’s father Balkaur Singh, just two days after welcoming a baby boy, on Tuesday, has alleged that the Punjab government was “harassing him asking him to prove his child was legit”. Balkaur Singh and his wife welcomed their second child on Sunday.
Balkaur Singh expressed his distress over facing the inquiries in a video shared on his social media platforms. He in his video further appealed to Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann to allow him to complete his wife’s treatment before he could furnish all necessary documents regarding his newborn.
The couple welcomed their baby two years after they lost their only son Shubhdeep Singh Sidhu, popularly known as Sidhu Moose Wala. He in his video posted on Instagram said, “Due to the blessings of Waheguru, we got our Shubhdeep back. But the government is harassing me since morning, asking me to furnish documents of the baby. They are questioning me to prove that this child is legal”.

The aged couple has opted for IVF (in vitro fertilization) to conceive the baby. He has requested that the government allow them to complete the treatment before any legal procedures.
Posting the video on X, he wrote, “What fear or compulsion is there that the government is interfering with the happiness of a newborn child?”
He then added, “But if you are trying to harass me, be prepared to face the consequences. I am not one to backtrack. I have always respected the law, and I will provide all necessary legal documents to clear my name”.
In December 2021, the government brought the Assisted Reproductive Technology (Regulation Act) which imposes a strict age limit for IVF procedures with guidelines stipulating an age range of 21-50 years for women and 21-55 years for men.
Balkaur Singh said that he had followed all the legal procedures and would produce all the documents. In response to the video, the opposition leaders have come criticizing the Punjab government over the allegation by Sidhu Moosewala’s father. Punjab Congress chief minister has urged the government to stop harassing the family.
Sidhu Moose Wala was murdered by assailants on May 29, 2022, in Punjab’s Mansa district. He was 28.
As per the Indian Express report, his parents had opted IVF technique for pregnancy and had gone abroad for the same last year. The family then requested at that time the news not be made public till the procedure becomes successful.
