New Delhi: The Delhi assembly election campaigns are getting heated up by the verbal duel between BJP and AAP. BJP candidate from New Delhi assembly segment Parvesh Verma questioned Aam Admi Party Chief and former chief minister Arvind Kejriwal over the alleged influx of vehicles from Punjab, aside from the “Chinese CCTV cameras”, in the national capital.

Verma, who is contesting against AAP supremo in the New Delhi seat claimed that all Punjab ministers and MLAs have arrived only for the New Delhi constituency, with thousands of vehicles carrying Punjab registration numbers are roaming about the city.

“Items like water dispensers, chairs and other materials are being transported to Delhi in trucks belonging to the Punjab government,” BJP leader said. Adding further, Verma said that he has filed a complaint with the Election Commission and the police over the issue.

BJP leader said that Kejriwal scared of “imminent defeat” from the New Delhi seat, hence, with the help of Punjab government they are getting CCTV cameras installed in the constituency’s slums just for the show. He has also raised security concerns over the Chinese CCTV cameras, installed in a “hurried manner”.

Punjab government’s teachers and employees are “masquerading as AAP workers” in Delhi, as the election campaigns carry on in full swing, Verma added. Two teachers hailing from Amritsar were arrested by the police, he said.

Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann responded to Verma’s allegations “extremely dangerous, worrying and insulting for Punjabis” and demanded an apology from Union Home Minister Amit Shah.

“Amit Shah Ji, you are neither able to keep the country’s borders safe nor Delhi. So many thousands of Bangladeshis and Rohingyas are coming across the country, don’t you have any problem with them? But you are calling Punjabis coming from Punjab to Delhi a threat to the country. You should apologize to Punjabis,” Mann said in a post on X.
