Deputy Superintendent of Jammu and Kashmir Police Humayun Bhat called his family members moment before his death in the terrorist encounter at Anantnag.

The brave cop was killed in the Gadole forests in the Kokernag area of Anantnag. He made a video call to his wife Fatima, with little hope of survival and asked her to take care of their baby.

“I may not survive. If I succumb to my injuries, please take care of our son,” Humayun Bhat told Fatima over the video call.

Humayun was profusely bleeding after being hit by bullets of Pakistan backed terrorists of the TRF- an offshoot of the Lashkar-e- Taiba (LeT) as per an India Today report.

This incident took place fortnight before Bhat’s wedding anniversary. Bhat called his wife to inform her that he might not survive the injuries.

He also made several phone calls to various family members and colleagues. He called his father, Retired IG Ghulam Hassan Bhat, to inform him that he was injured but said he was ‘okay’.

DSP Humayun Bhat was among three other officers leading the anti-terror operations from the front. Colonel Manpreet Singh, Major Ashish Dhonack are the other two diseased soldiers.

“Colonel Manpreet Singh, Major Ashish, deputy superintendent of Jammu and Kashmir Police Humayun Bhat were critically injured in the gunfight and died later,” Army officials said.

“He was in touch till 3 pm,” one officer said. In fact, he had talked to his father as well who had suggested him to roll down from the hillock. Humayun had responded: “I can’t move. I cannot move my legs,” KashmirLife reported.

On Wednesday evening, Humayun was laid to rest in his hometown of Humhama in Budgam. A sea of mourners arrived to pay their last respect to Bhat. His father laid floral wreath on him before bidding his last farewell to his beloved son.
