Thane: Teen Dies Of Electrocution While Walking Through Waterlogged Area
A 17-year-old girl allegedly died after suffering electric shock in a waterlogged area outside her residential building in Maharashtra’s Thane. The incident took place on Wednesday night in Mumbra.
The victim, identified as Aliya Mohammad Sajid Chandiwala, was stepping out of Yasmin Apartment in Kausa at around 8. 30pm amid heavy rain when she allegedly came into contact with electricity that had leaked into the waterlogged area near the building’s iron gate.

Though the teenage girl was rushed to a nearby hospital, doctors declared her dead on arrival. The victim’s family has filed a complaint alleging negligence on the part of the officials of Torrent Power Limited. Following that, police have registered a case against the concerned officials.
In his complaint, her father alleged that residents had reported recurring voltage fluctuation issues to Torrent Power on June 15 through the company’s official WhatsApp helpline, but no corrective action was taken.

The incident came a day after a 26-year-old worker at a sweet shop was electrocuted after coming into contact with a live wire in Bhiwandi. The incident occurred on Wednesday in the Teen Batti locality. The deceased was identified as Mustafa Shaikh, who had gone to a nearby temple to collect a metal container. While returning, he allegedly came into contact with a live wire and suffered a severe electric shock. His family members and local residents had also staged a protest, alleging gross negligence on the part of the temple management and the power utility. Protesters alleged that soon after the accident, personnel from the power company rushed to the spot and attempted to conceal the exposed wiring.
