Mirzapur, Uttar Pradesh: In an interesting development, BJP leader Vinod Bind arranged a dinner party for people in Uttar Pradesh’s Mirzapur, serving mutton among other food items. The mutton reportedly ran out, angering people who gathered for the event and leading to the Mirzapur ‘Mutton War.’ The party was reportedly organized to spread the message of unity among people.
The BJP leader wanted to unite the people of the Bind community in view of the elections. The feast was held in the office of the BJP MP located in Karsada.

Ironically, the message of unity went opposite to what was expected as people began to fight each other when the mutton pieces were finished. People turned frustrated when the mutton ran out amid the party, leading to the altercations and clashes with one another. Only gravy was left for many of the guests who came to the party hoping to consume the mutton meat. The ruckus reportedly involved kicking and punching among the people.
However, the incident made many wonder why a party that promotes vegan culture and vegetarian lifestyles while trying to impose bans on the non-vegetarian items should conduct a mutton party. The Uttar Pradesh government has imposed ban on the sale of meat in several areas, including near temples such as Ayodhya.

Earlier, there had been controversies regarding some BJP leaders eating non-vegetarian food while asking the followers to be vegetarian and scolding the opposition for eating meat. In 2019, media house The Print reported that one of the ministers in the Prime Minister Narendra Modi Cabinet was spotted having mutton minutes after he declared that he was a vegetarian. He was reportedly spotted having the meat with the same group with whom he made the claim to be a vegan.
