Reacting to the allegations over beef consumption, actor-turned-politician Kangana Ranaut today took to her social media platform and dismissed the speculations, affirming that she has been advocating a yogic and Ayurvedic way of life for decades. Declaring that she is a “proud Hindu,” the actress stated that she doesn’t consume beef or any other kind of red meat.

“It is shameful that completely baseless rumours are being spread about me, I have been advocating and promoting the yogic and Ayurvedic way of life for decades now such tactics won’t work to tarnish my image. My people know me and they know that I am a proud Hindu and nothing can ever mislead them, Jai Shri Ram,” Kangana Ranaut wrote in her post on X (formerly Twitter).

The rumour regarding beef consumption began spreading over social media referring to one of the older tweets from the actress. Though the authenticity of the post is yet to be ascertained, the 2019 post said, “There is nothing wrong with eating beef or eating any other meat. It”s not about religion! It”s not a hidden fact that Kangana turned vegetarian 8 years ago and chose to be a yogi. She still doesn”t believe in just one religion. On the contrary, her brother eats meat.”

The rumours gained traction when Maharashtra”s Leader of Opposition Vijay Wadettiwar raised the allegation that she once ate and loved beef. The allegations became serious as the actress got her first electoral ticket from Himachal Pradesh’s Mandy constituency for the upcoming Lok Sabha elections.

As Kangana seeks votes being a staunch supporter of the BJP’s ideology, the allegations are likely to raise questions about her commitment to the BJP”s stated principles.

As the rumours began to surface, many BJP leaders expressed their support to the party”s Mandy candidate and attacked the Congress party for its “dirty culture.” BJP spokesperson Keshav Upadhye said that the Congress cannot fight us on issues, and it shows the party”s “defeatist mentality.”
