
Train Services Disrupted As Diesel Tanker Catches Massive Fire In Tamil Nadu
Tiruvallur, Tamil Nadu: Triggering panic in the surroundings, a massive fire broke out near the Tiruvallur railway station around 5:30 am this morning after four wagons of a goods train carrying diesel derailed and started to burn.
Footage going round on social media shows huge flames and thick fumes of black smoke billowing from the affected coaches. The incident has caused disruption to train services between Arakkonam and Chennai, with railway authorities working to restore normal operations at the earliest. There is no loss of lives or damage to properties in the region, despite being a challenge due to the presence of highly inflammable diesel.

The train was moving from Manali to the Tirupati region when it caught fire near Tiruvallur railway station. Authorities quickly evacuated people from nearby areas as a precautionary measure, thwarting potential risks.
The cause of the fire is still under investigation.

Following the incident, local train services have been temporarily suspended, and at least 8 express trains have been also cancelled while 5 other trains diverted and 8 trains short-terminated, a statement from the Railway said.
A statement noted that restoration works are in progress and normal train operation will be resumed soon.
