A 25-year-old Bengaluru woman lost Rs 8.2 lakh to an astrologer in a desperate desire to reconcile the relationship with her former boyfriend.

Rahil (name changed), a resident of Jalahalli who was undergoing emotional distress after her breakup, contacted an internet-found astrologer named Ahmed on December 9 for assistance. After enquiring about her problems and asking some questions, Ahmed informed Rahil that black magic has been cast upon her, her friends and family members, and it is posing issues in her life. In order to resist this, Ahmed has proposed some rituals, and requested a payment of Rs. 501. Besides, following her instruction, she has sent photos of herself, friends, and family members to Ahmed.

Astrologer also Rahil that he will perform black magic on her ex-boyfriend and parents for Rs. 2.4 lakh so that they will never oppose her relationship. Rahil agreed and paid the demanded amount in cash to Ahmed”s associates on December 22. However, after a few days, Ahmed insisted that she pay an additional Rs 1.7 lakh. As the demand for money increased, Rahil refused to pay as she found it suspicious; Ahmed abused and threatened to reveal her photos with her former boyfriend to her parents. Conceding to the circumstances, Rahil ended up paying Rs 4.1 lakh via multiple digital of transactions till January 10.

Meanwhile, Rahil”s parents came to know about the financial loss, prompted her to lodge complaint with Jalahalli police. During the investigation, it was found that Rahil has transferred the money to an account in the name of Ahmed’s associate named Liyakhatulla.

“Ahmed claimed Rahil forced him to perform black magic and will return her money. But his mobile number is switched off now,” a police officer told the Times of India. The investigation is currently progressing.
