Glasgow Gurdwara strongly condemned the incident in which an Indian envoy was stopped from attending a planned interaction at the religious site on Saturday. Indian High Commissioner, Vikram Doraiswami was stopped from entering by Khalistani Extremist.
‘Disorderly behaviour’, the Scotland Gurudwara termed the incident.
In the official statement, Glasgow Gurudwara Guru Sahib Sikh Sabha said, “An incident occurred on 29 September 2023 at Glasgow Gurudwara where the Indian High Commissioner was on a personal visit, facilitated by a member of Scottish Parliament”.
Certain unknown individuals attempted to disrupt the visit, following which the visiting party decided to leave the premises, said the statement.
The unruly individuals continued to disturb the congregation ,and the Scotland police have cognizance of the matter, says ANI.
“The Gurdwara is open to people from all communities and backgrounds, and we welcome everyone openly as per our principles of faith”, the statement read.
A video has gone viral on social media in which a man is shown from preventing the entry of Indian High Commissioner to the Gurudwara. Two men were also seen attempting to open the door of the High Commissioner’s car in the parking area.
Soon after the video got viral, Junior UK Foreign Minister Anne-Marie Trevelyan acknowledged the video and posted on X.

The incident took place amid the diplomatic standoff between India and Canada ever since Canadian Prime Minster Justin Trudeau publicly alleged Indian intelligence involvement in the killing of pro-Khalistani terrorist Hardeep Singh Nijjar.
